Faience
- The uses of terracotta and its
glazed counterpart faience in architectural work are many
and varied.
-
- Virtually impervious to
moisture, faience is consequently unaffected by frost.
The vitrified surface, capable of withstanding high
temperatures also acts as a natural repellent to ordinary
harmful atmospheric gases.
-
- Cold-cast terracotta, a popular
and widely-used medium, is not only produced in the
company's precast works, but its innovation was developed
by Universal Stone's personnel.
-
- Cold-cast terracotta and
faience has load-bearing capabilities above and beyond
kiln-fired clay terracotta, and as such, much larger
reinforced units can be designed for
manufacture.
-
- With the face-applied cold
glaze available, a range of different colours and
finishes can be achieved and units can be much more
quickly produced than comparable clay
products.
